Ladies of Charity

The association of the Ladies of Charity was founded by St. Vincent De Paul in 1617 to serve the needs of the sick and poor by bringing them spiritual and corporal aid.  The White Plains Chapter tries to accomplish this by volunteering at nursing homes and hospitals.  Some members, who are Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, bring Holy Communion to the faithful who are unable to get to Mass. We also have a number of knitters and crocheters who make baby clothes and blankets for local pregnancy care centers.

Every October we have an annual fund raising luncheon which helps us support the following charities: The Lord’s Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Grace Church Programs, as well as child care and pregnancy centers.

Our Annual Day of recollection is held at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers and includes a speaker, mass, and lunch.

We meet the first Tuesday of every month (except July and August) here at The Church of St. Bernard after the 9:00 AM Mass.  Our members come from the surrounding parishes in White Plains, Silver Lake, and Valhalla.

New members are always welcome.  If you would like further information about membership please contact Ms. Gladys McCormick at 949-0351.
